Lillian
is a Louisianian of French & Cherokee heritage. Her first language
is French, which
was the only language of her parents and
grandparents. Her ancestors were pioneering French settlers,
who sailed directly to Louisiana from France and also from Nova Scotia making
their home in Natchitoches, La. where Lillian was born.
For
years Lillian has painted pictures of her life. Some are painted of
her home and family, some are painted of her travels and some are
painted from her imagination, but all are who Lillian Baudouin is...a
naturally gifted artist, singer, songwriter, poet, painter and sculptor,
Even the folks at PBS agreed, when they visited her home to film her
paintings and sculptures. She is currently a member of the Vicksburg Art
Association and has gallery shows several times a year. When Lillian launched her professional music
career, at age 72, she didnt start off small. Her first gig was as opening act for
her daughter Lucille's band, in front of 4000 adoring fans at the
“Women in Emotion Festival” in Hamburg, Germany. Since then, she has
performed her music in Europe, America and especially the delta regions
of Louisiana and Mississippi. Her
best gig, however, has been the joy of singing to her children and her
grandchildren. Lillian currently has 3 songs on her daughter, Lucille's
CD, two of which she sings and the other arranged for Lucille's band.
Lillian has also finished recording her solo a cappella CD, in which she
is the only artist writing and singing all the songs. You can
listen to clips on Lillian's Music page. Her
daughter will also be using Lillian's songs on the next 'Lucille' CD.
Creating
is Lillian's life and the picture of the life she paints, whether in a
song or on canvas will always be the real deal with the heart and soul
of the Louisiana delta.
